HistoryThe Adelaide University Snow Ski Club has been providing an opportunity for snow deprived South Australian students to enjoy the white, fluffy, snow-life since 1967. The club had its first "unofficial" trip to Falls Creek in 1965, staying in the Bogong Ski Club lodge, which at that time was a low, green coloured, galvanised iron structure covered with snow. Over the years AUSKI members were regular guests at the lodge and benefited from the rebuilding of the structure in about 1967. At that time the Bogong Ski club held the prestigeous position of being the only commercial lodge at the foot of the Village and Summit T bars. AUSKI has been sending South Australians over to the Victorian Alps ever since, and plans to do so long into the future. Check out some of the pictues from our first ever AUSKI racing team!! http://skidays.uuuq.com/index.html Aims The aims of AUSKI are to:
The main event on the AUSKI calender is the annual ski trip. Last year saw the largest ever ski trip with over 180 people hitting the slopes at Mount Hotham, making AUSKI the largest university ski group in the country! During the year, AUSKI holds a variety of social events which are open to all AUSKI members. These events provide a great opportunity for members to mingle with others that share their passion for the snow. With all these events, our main goals are to promote lifelong friendship, a healthy lifestyle as well as a lifelong passion for skiing and the snow. |
